Outside the Pueblo

The Cabot Pueblo Museum is actually the Pueblo that Yerxa Cabot lived in with his wife, Portia. Cabot was a huge collector and fairly wealthy, and because of that the inside of the house is filled with everything from a bear skin rug to an old-fashion hair perming machine. There are many old antics in the tight hallways, steep stairs and small rooms. His wife lived on the upper floor along with his art studio. On the bottom is his kitchen, bedroom, and a number of other rooms. His wife had a porch outside her room and there is quite a large garden as well as a few paths wandering around.

Along with many other things Cabot was the first to sell Cuban cigars in the U.S., and he had a small trading center as part of the Pueblo. As one of his hobbies he painted, and he had a small art studio upstairs. Some of his work is still in the house today.

The Pueblo is located in Desert Hot Springs, California on Miracle Hill. It is called Miracle Hill because Cabot found both cold and warm water merely a couple hundered yards away from each other.
